About

About me:

I am a lawyer and a homebrewer. I began homebrewing about two years ago using malt extracts from a can on our kitchen stove. After two unsuccessful batches that were drinkable only to me (because my pride overrode my tastebuds), I started looking into how to make better beer. After countless hours of research and practice, I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing. I no longer use extracts and have moved up to 12 gallon batches. My setup is not complete, so stop by when you have time to see the latest upgrades.

 About Big Arbor:

Our fair city of Wichita, Kansas lies on the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers. This site has spiritual importance to the Wichita Indians, who lived in what is now Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The Wichita Indians lived in large grass houses and the name "Wichita" became known by neighboring tribes as "big arbor" or "grass house". Our brewing operation is named in honor of the Wichita Indians who lived here long before Wichita became a bustling cowtown and, later, a hub of aviation.
